Enghien-les-Bains is a little town located about 13,5 km away from Paris. Last month I randomly found a weekend getaway to this town via weekendesk. If you want to spend a well to do around Paris, this town is a perfect destination. Here’s the reason why:
The beautiful lake
The lake of Enghien is the symbol of the town and a marvelous natural heritage that the city has. Walking around the lake will give you a stress relieve and a good time to admire beautiful gardens and trees around the lake.
Besides walking around the lake, you can also do water sports activities such as: sailing, rowing, pedal boats and fishing.
Wellness & Thermal Spa
Enghien les Bains is the only town in Ile-de-France province that has a thermal water spa. The bath was found in 1766 by Louis Cotte, a young priest Oratorian Montmorency. He discovered a stream “stinky” in fact sulfur near the spillway of the pond.
In 1823, the waters of the city suddenly become popular after Louis XVIII went there to heal an ulcer on his leg. Since then, people from neighboring cities had flow to the town to get hydrotherapy spa and Enghien quickly knownly became a spa town.
Today, the bath still offers a unique environment where well-being and entertainment come together to make your visit unforgettable.
When you visit Enghien-les-Bains, you must eat this very well-known french restaurant “Le Fouquet’s” . You can have a decent bistronomic menu which developed in collaboration with Pierre Gagnaire, a French Michelin Chef de cuisine. The restaurant is located on the edge of the lake which will give you a perfect romantic setting, with reflections of water and the Casino in the background.
Where to stay:
The hotel is located in front of the lake of Enghien. It gives you direct access to the wellness, sport & spa of Enghien-Les-Bains.
